Best Christmas Ever!

As you all should know (via an email we sent a week and a half ago) I decided to run a small contest to see who had the best X-mas stories out there. So below I would like to share a couple of the entries we received. If you see your story here, you have won a One Industries T-shirt and we will be contacting you to get your size and shipping address. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and here are just a couple of the winners-

From Nikky Olsen

Well one year all i had asked for was a CRF 250r.So i could get off quads and start racing desert and moto. So on Christmas morning i pre-scanned the whole house to look for the bike i wanted so badly. It was no were to be found. When me and my brother ripped into our presents i opened a shower curtain and a pair of pajamas. My brother on the other hand got a new ipod and a new BMX bike. I sat there trying to be not sad and thankful for what i got. I was pretty bummed. At the end of all this my dad said go look up stairs on the balcony. I ran up stairs and there it was a beautiful brand new CRF 250r.!!!!!!! I was sooooo happy!!! My dad had ridden it up the stairs through my parents room and out onto the balcony!! He is a true moto man. My best Christmas ever!

-Of course everyone knows that Utah gets a lot of snow so that means no riding! One year the snow had started early and the track closed down but i didn't mind because we would be going to Mesquite, Nevada for Christmas! Everyone that has been to the Mesquite track will tell you that it's AMAZING!!! There's nothing for me not to like! Hot guys, nice track, warm weather, shopping, and so much more! My old man decided that on Christmas weekend he would take me to the track and he bet on everything he would take me on! Yeah well of course i thought oh whatever because he's my old man! Well to make things a little bit shorter, when we finally got out to the track it was my whole family, my boy friend, all the guys, and me! I was showing off all over the place and then my dad got on the track! I thought nothing of it but the old fart was catching up and doing all the jumps! I'm not going to lie, I was way NERVOUS!!! Well you probably already know where this is going so I'll just tell you! I wrecked bad! and it was right in front of everyone!!! I looked up and dirt was all over in my teeth and everyone was practically on the ground laughing! Even my family was laughing! So that's the down side to the story but the bright side is i did good the rest of the day and got fudge and a track for Christmas! Hopefully this year i can do it again and maybe i'll win this time!

I have always enjoyed Christmas because on Christmas Eve it is a day of continous driving to and from family members house. I see more family on Christmas than I do all year, but my best Christmas has to be Christmas of 2007. A few months before Christmas I meet the man of my dreams so that Christmas was the first time I ever shared it with any one other than family. It was very exciting for me to go shopping for someone new and of course it was evening more exciting to see what he got me. Thanks to him I ended up buying a dirtbike and started racing with him in the VCHSS. So for Christmas he bought me a helmet and gloves to match. They also matched my dirt bike at the time. The gifts were great, but what made that Christmas the best was because not only was I full of holiday cheer and got to spend time with my family, I also felt like a part of his family. We went to his house for Christmas and had dinner with his parents and they were very welcoming. It is the first time I have ever had feelings like that. It made my holidays even better. And Of course after all the family stuff was done we dressed warm and went riding his 4-wheeler with my cousin and two of his friends. That was different for me usually Christmas I just have my family things and relax around the house, but not that time. Well that's is about all i can say about that Christmas.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Jennifer Howdyshell

"Tis the Season

Well, it is that time of year again. Time to take off the helmet, undo the boots and get all snuggled up under the tree dreaming of reindeer and Santa jumping from rooftop to rooftop..... It is also a time to be on the look out for SUPER deals from us at Motoworldracing.com. With the economy the way it is we here at the .com are consistantly coming up with deals that keep customer coming back again and again! Make sure to look daily on the site and keep a close eye in you e-mail "inbox" for savings that may have you jumping from roof top to roof top!

In this Blog I want to share with you a very special X mas I had way back in the day, I was only 4 years old and lived with a single mom who did everything she could to give me everything I wanted. Looking back on this particular X-mas as an adult I know that we scraped by for some time coming up to the big day. I know this because my birthday is on December 16th, and I only got half of a transformer, the other half came on X-mas morning. I was only four so I was just as excited on X-mas nevertheless. As we were claning up the wrapping and I was now playing with my complete Transformer toy, my mom said to me "Hey, it looks like santa left you a card on the tree" I looked up not really caring as we all know a "card" can't be good, especialy when you are 4 years old. Anyways, my mom took it down opened it up and read it to me. I can't remember exactly how it went but I know I had to find the red-ribbon the tree and it would lead me to another gift! After rushing around the tree a couple of times I finaly found it. Santa had wrapped this ribbon all throughout the house and eventualy the yard, porch, and into the workshop we had behind the house. After about 20 minutes of following this ribbon I opened the workshop doors to my beat up, brand used YZ50. It may have been battered and beat, but it was pure heaven to my eyes. My mom had scraped and saved and was able to get me my very first motorcyle. I loved that back and to this day think of it as one of my all time favorites. To make matters even better, it didn;t even run. We spent the whole day pushin it up the driveway and letting me coast is down and then I would fall over, just like the stuntmen I would watch on TV! We got that thing running just a few days after X mas and if I remember correctly it was just a clogged fuel filter. That bike started it all for me and that X-mas is a memory that I will forever have.

This story has just inspired me, send me your BEST X-mas memory and I will pick the best one I recieve and give you a gift package. Send it to Regis188@motoworldracing.com I will even post it on the web for everyone to see!

Yamaha/ITP Quadcross Series Round 8
Competitive Edge MX, Hesperia, CA
10/19/08

Round eight of the Yamaha/ITP Quadcross series was held at Competitive Edge MX in Hesperia, CA. Many riders seemed to like the track layout that included some big, high speed jumps but also had some very rough square edged sections. The pro production class has 19 entries so we would be using a two moto format for one of only a few times this year. With a chance of clinching the championship I was very eager to get the day started.

Moto One: My #94 YFZ 450 ripped me a nice holeshot with Jesse Goss in second. There was a small pile up in the second turn that slowed everyone from fourth place on back. With clear sailing out front and feeling very good on this new track, I had a 13 second lead by the end of lap two. As I kept my pace strong out front, Sage Baker and Brandon Smith locked into a battle for second. The two swapped positions at least twice as Josh Frederick and Justin Noss worked up to fourth and fifth. When the checkers flew at the end of our nine lap moto, I took the win by 25 seconds with Baker holding off Smith for second, Frederick and Noss rounded out the top five.

Moto Two: My YFZ pulled me to another great start but I was beat to the first turn by fellow YFZ riders Noss and Reed Petchnick. I was able to get by Petchnick in the first few corners and set out after Noss. The track was tough in the second moto with some huge square edged holes and high winds. After two laps I caught and passed Noss when he came up slightly short and sideways on a jump and the momentum from making it clean carried me past him entering the following left hander. Once into the lead I rode strong and began to inch away from Noss while Baker made his way to third and Smith worked up to fourth. At the finish, I won by 6 seconds ahead of Noss, Baker, Smith and Frederick.

Round eight of the Yamaha/ITP Quadcross couldn’t have gone any better for me. I took both moto wins for the overall and more importantly I clinched the Championship. With all the pressure of the championship off my shoulders, I look forward to debuting the new YFZ 450R at the final race of the season. The 2008 season finale for the Yamaha/ITP Quadcross series will be held at Glen Helen Raceway on November 30th.

CHECKIN' IN WITH JEREMY LUSK

Team Motoworld Racing's Jeremy Lusk has been on fire, ABSOLUTELY on fire. How do you explain a silver in best trick and a gold in freestyle at the ESPN X games followed up with a double gold in the best trick and freestyle in Mexico for the world X Games? Supported by Motoworld for the last two years, Lusk has come into his own as the best freestyler rider on the planet! Not only can you catch Lusk at all the biggest freestyle events, look forward to him showing his skills as one of the best free-riders out in the desert this desert deason at Ocotillo and all the top freeride spots.

Two Takes

Sometimes when we carefully plan, calculate, focus and replay over and over in our mind what needs to be done it just doesn't happen exactly as we had envisioned. This past week, I got a phone call out of the blue from a good friend named Clay Cullen. Clay is an ex proffesional Jet Ski racer and now full time stuntman living the life and staying busy being what every young boy dreams of being at least once in his life.... A stuntman. You see, I have been very blessed since I quite racing proffesionaly. I was, or am lucky enough to have parlayed that into doing some movie and TV stunts the past couple of years and this call from Clay was to line me up with some work. The funny thing is, because I am a smaller guy it usualy (almost always) consists of me doing stunts on a motorcycle dressed up as a woman. I know funny isn't it? Here was the deal, Clay called and told me he and another buddy and Ex Pro desert racer Oakley Leahman, had given a stunt coordinater my name and number because there was a shot that had been filmed a couple of times and just wasn't getting done properly. So here enters me. They need me to come in and crash a BRAND NEW Ducati 848. Yeah, you heard me. A brand new, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l motorcycle that had only 5 miles on it. The crash was simple, lay this bike down in an alley in downtown Los Angeles, China Town to be exact, for an all new TV show coming out called Dollhouse (see the trailer here). Sounds simple right? Well imagine getting into your car, getting to about 20 miles per hour and then jumping out on the road and landing on just your left side and sliding, trying to come to a stop at a specific point all while 50 people are watching with bright lights and cameras rolling. Being the woman, I mean MAN :) that I am I quickly jmped at the opportunity and less than 24 hours later I was on my way to L.A. to get the shot done.

When I arrived on set I was quickly wisked away to get into costume and a wig. From there I went to scout the location of the crash. It really did look like an easy thing to do. It was slightly downhill, with a 90 degree left hander where I could lock up the rear brake get this thing on its side and be done with it. I am going to be honest, I was still scared, very scared. I mean I have crashed a countless amount of times throughout my life, but crashing on purpose, on ashphalt and on an unfamiliar bike still had me more worried than I wanted to be. Fortunetely, the crash scene was going to be the last shot of the night, so that meant we had a bunch of filming to do throughout the streets of China town until the wee hours of the morning.

All went well leading up to the big shot. I had a blast rushing through the streets on this Ducati, Oakley was the other stunt performer on the show and he and I got to have a blast rubbing elbows and riding on the sidewalks all while the L.A. police department had the streets locked down for our own "moto" playground. So after a few hours the coordinator looked at me and told me it was time to go. My heart sank and the butterflies started to race. It was indeed "go time".

We rode in the vans across town and to where the shot was going to take place. All night seemed to take hours and now time was flying by and it seems like merely seconds before I was told we were all set and ready to crash. I had replayed over and over in my mind what I wanted to do. I had calculated, planned and was ready. Get it up to 20, lay it over slide and go home happy. One shot. Let's do this and DON'T for any circumstance let this thing high side you up and over, because sliding is fine on asphalt, but thumping on it would hurt. So I gear up, say a little prayer close my face shield, high five Oakley and go to my staring point constantly remindiny myself "one shot, nail and lets go home". It is funny the things that go through your mind when you are waiting to throw yourself onto the ground as the director is counting dow.... "OK READY!... and rolling, cameras ready.......... ACTION!"

It was all up to me now, I clicked that Duck into first gear, rolled into the throttle, got to my mark hit the brakes, slid and............. HIGHSIDED. Yup. Everything I had planned, prepared for and went over in my mind was thrown out the window as I was flying through the air upside down. My worst fears had become reality and I was about to hit the ground and hit it hard. As I was about to hit the ground two things went through my mind, one was to NOT put my hands out as I would have surely broken my wrists and the other, was ow the hell was i going to miss the brick wall that was right in my path. Well, I was able to pull my hands back just as I hit the ground, which still hurt the palms of my hands but the wall, there was no avoiding and I hit it squarely on my back as I flipped into it.

With my adrenaline stilll going I was quick to my feet and teling everybody that I was ok. I was completely embarrased becasue we did not get the shot. Funny thing is. I highsided becasue I didn't fully commit to the crash. I was going too slow and did not go to the ground as I should have. The stunt coordinator rushed over to me to make sure I was ok, and as soon as I reassured him I was, He looked at me and I knew it was coming.... "can you go again?" "ABSOLUTELY!!!!" I said, I knew what I had to do, I knew what mistakes I had made and I came to get this shot, so we were going to do it again. In just a couple of minutes I was back to the starting point ready to do this and so mad at myself for failing that I promised myself full commitment to this and off I went. This time I shifted into second, went twice as fast and commited twice as hard to itting the ground. SMACK! I saw black for a second, felt the pain of sliding on ashphalt and then realized, I had nailed it. The crash was awesome and when I heard the director yell "CUT!" a smile came over my face as I knew I had got the job done. It may have taken two takes, but it was done. I got it done. So, after a long night I was able to drive home at 4am. I was so high on adrenaline, that it took me until halfway home to do a "status check" on my body. So, a couple bruised wrists, a badly bruised back and a slightly twisted ankle and all I could think about was "When will I get to do this again?"

This is the worst of it right here, A bruised left wrist, mission accomplished.
